The UPLB Graduate School Visits the City of Smiles for UPLB-GS Caravan

Bacolod City, Negros Occidental – The UPLB Graduate School brought its academic programs and services closer to potential students with the Graduate School Caravan at Limman’s Center, Luzuriaga Street, Bacolod City on 08 August 2024. This successful event gave detailed information about what the UPLB Graduate School can offer, with an aim to encourage new students to pursue higher education.

A welcome message was delivered by Prof. Jomar F. Rabajante, UPLB Graduate School Dean, to usher in the opening of the event by underscoring the school’s commitment to nurturing leadership in research, innovation, and education. He also emphasized the value of networking and teamwork.

The participants were acquainted with the rich academic programs through some videos and an engaging speech by Dr. Ronilo Jose D. Flores, Associate Dean of UPLB Graduate School. His speech highlighted the high quality of education and opportunities that a student can get while studying at UPLB.

In addition, Asst. Prof. Gabriel John de Leon offered valuable insights into the student experience, painting a vivid picture of life in Los Baños. He highlighted the town’s unique charm, from its diverse local cuisine to its vibrant community life, showcasing what makes Los Baños an ideal environment for students. A testimonial from Mr. Joseph S. Patron, a current GS student, further enriched the discussion by offering a personal perspective on studying at UPLB.

The program ended with a Q&A session moderated by Assoc. Prof. Pamela A. Custodio, School Secretary, allowing prospective students to raise their queries about the various opportunities and challenges they might encounter in graduate school.

The event was facilitated by Ms. Mayel C. Gregorio and Mr. Leslie G. Bolaños as emcees, while technical support was provided by Ms. Jenny Mae Q. Quiambao and Ms. Melissa C. Maniego. The caravan successfully bridged the gap between UPLB and potential graduate students in Bacolod, offering them a closer look at the world-class education available at UPLB.
